Can anyone tell me where the relay is for the power door locks on a 1992 Ranger? Swapped in a set of power doors from a 1992 Ranger. Windows work, but locks don't. I have power to the switches.

I thought that ford used a 5-wire reversing set up, no relays.

The lock /unlock wires should be Pink/Yellow and Pink/Light Green (no I don't know which is which). But here is how they should work, when you press lock, one of the wires will have 12 volts on it, the other will complete the path to ground. When unlock is pressed the wires will switch jobs.

Both the Pink/Yellow and Pink/Light Green should show ground (use a digital VOM) when neither lock or unlock is pressed.

I will double check my info right after dinner

Almost forgot, some older Rangers had relays Behind Driver's Head Light, but I thought they quit that in 1990

I pulled a newer diagram and you're right. No relay. I was puzzled because the harness is complete between the two doors with only the connection for the (+) for the windows and locks needing hooked up. I figured if anything didn't work it would be a window, not both locks. Hard to believe both actuators could be fried.

Hard to believe both actuators could be fried.

Ford actuators are not the most reliable, but two being out at the same time??????

I would run a quick test, make sure the actuator is getting 12-volts when the lock is pressed and also test the other wire. Press lock and the ground side should have no more than 0.2 volts on it. If its more check the ground.

Also, I've run into this on an F150 (never a Ranger) but all grounds for the electric locks went through the passenger door switch. That switch went bad and both locks quit working.

Damn. These actuators are $70. Weird thing is, the lock harness was spliced in to. I think somoene had it spliced in to an alarm/remote system.
