Last year the transmission went bang and pop last year going down the highway at about 65mph. So long story short I lost 3rd gear and the transmission runs like crap. I just just wonder how I drove all the way home that day without walking.
So this year I got myself to the junkyard and bought a used transmission. I took my old transmission out and I was curious to look inside to see what was wrong, and what a suprise I saw. The gears were absolutely broken to bits. Entire gears were missing all of their teeth and I could pick up a handful of them at the bottom of the transmission.
So my warning to anyone with this transmission please check the fluid level in BOTH the clutch and tranmission. The manual transmission will take automatic fluid so be advised. I figured this out when it was all too late. I guess these trucks with this transmission are known to have these problems. But my truck runs much better than when I first bought with the junkyard tranny.

thanks for the heads up. i just got the fluid changed out it mine... the guys said they weren't sure what was in there.. it looked like black water lol.
it was the original fluid ... severely beat after 130k miles:eek:
