1992 4.0 Beater

Hey guys, planning on turning the beater I picked up into a (mechanically) clean ride, and hoping to up my mpg from current ~14mpg with some basic ecomods and overall cleaner running.

What I've Got

1992 4.0, Auto, ~180k

Current list of to-dos:
- Replace wrecked Wrangler tires with highway tires
- Replace valve covers and clean up the mess from oil that's been leaking for who knows how long
- Trans has issues: takes a while to engage R, may have a slow leak somewhere. Mechanic told me it needs to be rebuilt, but I'd rather troubleshoot and learn along the way
- Truck gets the shakes around 65mph -- may have to do with the tires, balanced them and it improved, hopefully nothing more serious
- Replace windshield - its cracked and pocked to hell
- Replace headliner

Welcome, sounds like you have a good list to start with. Some good highway tires on your Ranger may improve your ride and stop the vibration at 65 mph.
