My ranger was working fine til last night. I was driving home and parked the trick at idle. I turned off the headlights but left the parking lights on. When I took off and pulled the light switch I got no response. The parking and dash lights work fine and I was able to pull back on the tur/hi/lo selector to get the lights to come on but not with the headlight switch. Any suggestions?

most likley your multifunction switch or blinker switch, mine just did that. I replaced it and the work great if you can get one from the junk yard in good condition cause new ones are kinda on the expensive side. best of luck to ya

I have had several ford trucks with a bad headlight switch. Usually it begins with intermitent headlamps or tha headlamps flashing while driving. As it progresses it takes positioning the haedlight switch in just the right position between parking lights and headlights to get them to come on. The switch usually builds up so much heat that it becomes brittle and makes for a bad connection. This truck went straight from working fine to no headlights so im not sure if it is the actual switch. Does anyone know if there is a way to put a jumper between the prongs on the wiring harness to bypass the headlight switch which would suggest that it is in fact a faulty switch?

had a similiar problem like this myself, except it was my dash lights instead.

i replaced both the headlight/dimmer switch, and the pig tail connector in order to get them working again.

took about an hour to do everything, but was simple and straight forward. id reccommend taking the switch out of the dash, and looking at the pig tail for any burnt or melted spots.

also, dont forget to check fuses first!
