My transfer case seems to be emitting a noise the past week. It sounds like a carnival spinning wheel. I'm trying to isolate it. It seems to make the noise only when the rear axle is turning. whether driven or coasting with clutch disengaged. I'm going to take it to a hill near by, put the transfer case in neutral and trans in neutral to see if the noise is at the output, between output and input or around the input? Trying to isolate the noise. any ideas? I recently had the transfer case out to replace the gasket between it and the trans as the FM-146 manual was leaking gear oil. After re-assembly I topped off the trans with gear oil (like the FM uses) and Mercon in the transfer case as I saw in my manual.

Thanks,
