Coming home from work today about 60 mph or so and all of a sudden the speedo shoots to 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, off the dial. Now it's jumpy and all over the place. Any ideas? The odometer seems to be tracking properly as I checked it against a measured mile on the highway. Whats up?

Thanks,

Could be a cable or a gear drive attached to the tranny. Could be something electrical as well. Might want to just take it to a shop for a checkup...if you really need it.

'I Don't Need No Stinking Speedometer'.

Nope, probably not that. It should effect the odometer as well if it was that.

Nope, def not that. Not on a 91.

Don't you ever use the search function to learn things Cat?

Or he might want to ask u if we have any ideas first.

I would bet the guts of the speedo have gone wonky.

You say tomatoe, I say tomato but in a search it will always come up different. Google search works better but it usually leads me to the "other" Ranger forum. With so many options of forums it's rare to find a post exactly how I would type in the search words.

If anyone is ever on the Fairlane forums I'll help you all without any questions. Even if you post in the wrong forum or don't use the search. I mean, where would forums be without posts? Just one library list of answers that are answered one way.

And how would anyone ever get their post counts to astronomical levels?

Seriously, thanks for the forums!

Oh, I agree. Our in-forum search function sucks. It's just not specific enough.

I just had to throw that in there at Cat since he is never helpful anymore, and was def wrong on this one.
