Hello,
I have a '91 Ranger 4.0l, 5 speed manual 4x4 Xlt. I just replaced the clutch master and slave. I have great pedal and all forward gears seem to work fine. The issues I'm having is when I am in reverse there is a "ticking" or "clicking" sound coming from the trans when backing up. It's not a grinding gear noise but more like an auto trans prawl gear slipping. Like an idler gear is not quite disengaging. It's only in reverse and goes with speed even with the clutch depressed.
When I dropped the trans I had the shift lever in neutral and I put it back in that way. Is there an adjustment that I'm missing?
Any direction is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Gary
