Put a transmission out of a 86 bronco in my 90 ranger but wont shift out of park suggestions?

I'll bet that it was in gear when you pulled the shift lever. Pull the shift lever again and make sure all the shift rails are lined up, so the top and bottom are mirror images of each other, and the same side to side. Re-install shift lever, it should now be in neutral.

sounds like he is talking about an automatic since a manual doesn't have park.

make sure your linkage is not bent or twisted around

Its a4ld automatic sorry for not being more specific. The linkage didn't look bent on outside or internal

Wish it was manual but dont have funds to swap plus hard to find all the parts for reasonable price

OOPS....

Other than drivetrain bind I can't think of anything. So make sure you're not on a hill or slope. maybe even jack up the drive axle clear of the ground.
