Well i just got a new truck a few days ago. its a 1990 ranger xlt. Normal cab. normal bed i guess? It looks like it was lifted 2 inches already just so the wheels could fit on it. but i think there stock. So anyway. there is like 2inches from the tires to the body so i wanted to give it a little bit of a lift :). even tho i would lift it without big tires. All i need is a block and a spring. i think? you tell me. if so im looking for something real cheap. that will work. im a kid you know. haha. Thanks:)

well you need to find out if it is lifted or not. if not you can lift it 2 inches for about $100 with coil spacers and belltech 6400 shackles . or you could spend about $200 and do it the right ways and get lift coils instead of the spacers. either way its 2" and your going to need an alignment after

hmm. well i will do it the right way. can you suggest some? with everything i need. and alignment? :icon_confused:

i looked at belltech shackles. that and a coil sounds like the way to do it. it said drops the height??? im horrible at research could you link me a 2" lift bellshackle. btw do i need to get longer break lines and extend anything?

Just get drop shackles from Autozone. If your front end already has 2" lift then you're gonna need several parts to go higher, if not then you can use spacers (washers) or 2" coils and then an alignment.

can you link me a 2" shackles? does it come in a pair of 2? or w/e im a little comfused..... If i get lift coils. that lifts the front. then i have to lift the back. and if i do shackles then i qwill have to get a new coil and suspension anyway right? whats the best way garrrr...

can i do shackles and put coils in the front to even it out? or do shackles in the front and back and put coils in the front idk?

lifting the rear is stupid easy and cheap...... just use lift blocks of whatever height or bastard pack stack springs.

Now what "YOU" need to do is.........
listen to what they said and find out if your truck is lifted or not. Then go from there. research on here and use google.

Any and all questions you have, have been answered on this forum, SEARCH feature is in top right hand of screen. Once you've put in the effort and looked up information...... then I'd come back and ask specific questions.

thanks. i know its easy. but do i need to get four 2" shackles and get a suspension spacer thats 2"? thats what i was wondering sorry for the confusion. Edit: i was thinking... 2" isnt much. would i be able to do 3" without worrying about the brake line accedera?

here is the link for the drop shackles. drop as in drops your leafs down 2 inches so in reality lifts the truck up 2 inches. but they are only for the back. The back has leaf springs. the front has coil springs. seeing as the shackles are what hold the leaf springs, you can't use them to lift the front.
lift coils should be straight forward. replace stock with 2 inch long springs.

theres a link for lift coils.
as for the alignment. any time you lift the front of the truck (bigger tires, lift coils, spacers, etc.) you put the camber out of wack.
instead of the tires looking like this - l l
they look like this - \ /
so you need to take it to a shop and get it fixed. but other than that you should be good. but you need to see if its lifted. check for spacers under the coil springs but by the looks of your avatar it doesn't look lifted to me. so check. buy the new springs and the shackles . install. $200 later you're riding 2" higher

oh i see. Im not good on cars yet. Im going to be a diesel mechanic for a living. so its fun to learn at a young age. Thanks You have been a big help. I was wondering would i have to do anything different if i wanted 4 inch lift? cuz 2" doesnt seem like much.

well if you are not going to put bigger tires under it, 2" will make a big noticeable difference. but if you are really thinking about doing 4" what you looked at ( the lift blocks and the 4" lift coils) will be fine but you are going to have to get new shocks, drop brackets, pitman arm and extended brake lines. possibly steering adapter.
so if you want the 4" just go with a rough country 4" lift. about $450.

so it really depends on the look you want. personally i would stick with the 2" if you are not going to change tire size because if too much wheel well shows it looks kind of dumb and 2" is all you would need to get the aggressive look. and it's really cheap

also. the alignment is only about $30 or $40. so for someone who isn't very mechanical or car smart i would stick with the 2" that i suggested ( 2" lift coils and 2" drop brackets). its probably the most effective budget lift

Thanks! so i checked it out it has not been lifted before... Just an off topic question. when i push on my clutch its pushes in hard like its sticking but its not it realeases. uhm any idea on what it is and how i can fix it. One more thing. When i start up my truck and leave it runing. every 5 secs it bogs down like its going to die and then it goes right back up. I think its a sensor? if so any idea what it is and where?

I would post those questions in the tech section, but when its surging is the ac or defrost on? Try it without those on.
