Replaced coil, ignition module, map sensor. Have read codes seem to keep getting different ones. Also replaced ecm. Runs very rich then idles down dies, then usually wont start till it cools down all the way. Have checked grounds etc. Fuel pressure reg? I'm stumped. Last code I got was for VSS. (speed sensor) Any ideas? Thanks in advance

have you pulled the plugs to see what they look like?

I haven't since yesterday when it started this. It was running fine I was usung it for a couple hours on my lower property, then it started doing this. I'm sure they are somewhat fouled. Thought it would clear up eventually if I fixed the problem with the coil. I ran it for 10 minutes or so, seemed to be getting better, I let it idle down, then it lurched and died, wouldnt start again after that. Will work more tomorrow on it. Havent found any vacuum leaks.

I look forward to finding out how you repair this I too am having a no-start problem.

Poured some gas in it today, cleaned the 4 plugs I could get to easily and fired it up, ran rich, sputtered for a bit, then it died. I started it back up then it was running smooth very smooth,, but cuts out when you try to give it throttle. Got a little better as I drove it up and down the hill in low range on my lower property. Got more codes out of it, EGR valve not opening. System rich and TPS voltage too high. Was too high when I got the truck we set it down and it ran great until last Saturday. Hammer away more tomorrow if I have time I guess. Gotta get a way to check the fuel rail pressure. Sad part about the whole thing is that the trashed 89 Ranger I drive every day never has any problems and I abuse that truck. Put 84,000 on it since I got the thing almost 5 years ago. It refuses to quit and it looked like it was dead before I ever owned it. Try to take good care of my 1990 4 cyl. 4x4 Ranger and it craps on me, go figure.

Changed the MAF sensor and the EGR valve position sensor as per the codes I was getting and it is running well again. Still need to changed the fuel filter probably and the coolant temp. sender cause it don't work, but it's running well. Just in time for the snow we are getting.
