Hey everyone, my 2.3L 90 ranger has the temp sensor on the coolant line to the heater core. The wire connection is completely missing. Any idea where this wire comes from so I can find the source to re-wire it?

Thanks!

Mine is there too. There should be a plug right above it. It connects to the harness near the AC compressor.

Look near where the water line goes into the block. Where the upper radiator hoes is. It’s on an aluminum line right next to the coil. Can’t miss it.

nothing of note there. I think the previous owner fudged the wiring harness. I remember him saying they replaced the engine with another 2.3 so it must have gone missing around then

Its a 2 wire sensor, ECT sensor
It has a Grey/red stripe wire, most sensors share this 5volt grey/red wire, so there are a few of them
And its has a light green/red stripe wire

These will be in the engine wiring harness, usually, as they run back to the computer in passenger side of cab

Look for the Light Green/red stripe wire

A '90 should have the temp sensor (two wire like Ron said) in the intake manifold I think right in the middle or near the #2 cylinder intake runner/injector area. That should be the only coolant temp sensor other than the one for the gauge that I believe is in the bottom of the intake manifold or in the block by the drivers side motor mount, I don't remember...

I just had the same issue with my 89 2.3l. Pin 7 on your ecm is for the lgr/y wire to sensor. I traced it to the 8 pin connector right after the harness gets routed around the throttle body. The wire is still connected to this connector but there was no wire coming out the other connector. You can hook it up here or cut the wire and locate it more towards the sensor. The other wire is the BK/W vref wire. I had to do the same for that wire too. Just to make sure you get the right wire...get a dvom and resistance/continuity check the wire from pcm to connector. Pretty sure its lg/y located at pin 7 ecm.

Yes, could be light green/yellow stripe wire in 1990, my mistake
