i bought an engine and trans from a 93 ranger. i got the ecm, maf, and the wiring with it. im going from a 90 2.9 to a 93 4.0. in the 90 the ecm is in the passenger kick panel. the 93 is in the rear left corner of the engine. my question is will i put the 4.0 ecm where the 2.9 ecm is now. thanks for the info. this is the only thing im wondering about. other than that the swap should be straight forward. thanks alot

I am doing a similar swap... 89 2.9L to 4.0 from a 93... and am planning on moving the PCM from the passenger side kick panel over the the drivers side inner fender well.

Reading a bunch of conversions, I think that is how most have done it in the past.

With that said, I do believe that some amount of fab work (or creative rigging) is required to move the PCM, because the pre 93 rangers don't have mounting features for the PCM in the drivers fender well.

Here is how I added it to an 86.

There will be a cover bolted to the flanges with silicone to seal it up.
