91 Explorer, ok, so ive been through the entire dockett with this damn truck, it has, NEW idle air motor.IAT,CTS,CPS,MAF, when u run for codes it keeps coming back for the intake air tempurature sensor....

now heres the weird part, the truck runs PHENOMENAL at idle, but if u try and gas it it basicall try and shut down, it is NOT a fuel pressure problem, he holds 40psi of pressure at idle, and spikes when the pedals pressed.

ive been through every single possibility, and im finally stumped, unless he has computer woes. im outta ideas any input that could help would be much appreciated

I had similar problems with my 94 Limited when I bought it. Ex would run fine for awhile then it would stumble, die and wouldn't restart. It was a pain because you never knew when it would do it.

I replaced god knows how many sensors and tested out other things.....ie fuel pump, fuel pressure...so on and so one. I was still getting codes for sensors that I just replaced and other random ones.

Finally I got another computer and put it in, and she has been running like a champ ever since.

I would try to find another ECU and try it out. Sounds like the problems I had with mine.

its doing the same thing, except when it dies it will start right back up and idle like nothing ever happened, im tending to lean towards the ECU end of this, which isnt a big deal because he needs a manual transmission computer anyways

Mine was good for awhile and would restart but the more it happened the worse things got.
Then it got to the point where it wouldn't start at all, so yeah I think it's the ECU.

Doing a tranny swap in it? I sometimes wish mine was a manual, but the wife only drives autos...

I'd check all over for Vaccum leaks

teach her to drive a stick, im sure shes already half way there with her stick control:thefinger:lol, the rest is just the motion of the lotion lol......

its already a 5spd, still has the auto computer in it, with a fm146 and stock tires that ****in exploder HAULS ASS

Hey Mike, are you sure that the exhaust isn't clogged?

The IAT does have a lot of input for the fuel mixture.

it seems to be flowing fine, this is a problem that started at random, there is a new IAT on it and it ohms to spec, i wandered to checking the fuel pressure because it was kicking a system lean code, but like i said, 40psi at idle, so it isnt fuel, no vaccum leaks, all new gaskets torqued to spec, this is a fresh engine, new heads, bottom end is fresh.

i believe he is just going to bite the bullet on a computer and cross his fingers, realistically im at wits end, all new sensors and all ohm out, this is my buddies truck, we need to figure out this final problem inorder for him to his 6" lift on it, with a very healthy 4.0 a tight fm146 with a good clutch, its got 3.73's but the trans in it really makes a huge difference, gonna run 33-35's on it
