1990 4x4 Rear ABS Malfunction ?

When making a sharp turn the truck acts as if it's in 4x4 mode.
I removed the actuating motor and it showed 2x4 mode.
I drove it again today about a mile or two with no problems.
But again, when making a sharp turn it acted the same.
I left the truck running while I removed the actuator.
Again, it showed 2x4 mode so now I suspect the rear abs.
No abs light came on and I heard no clicking.
One the drive home it was fine.

I've read about pulling the abs fuses and need to try that yet.
I met someone who wanted to but the truck but this killed the sale.
The prospect buyer liked everything else and would have bought it.

If it's only in sharp turns, have you checked the front axle shafts? Sounds from the way you describe it that it like jumps when turning like it would in 4x4 and you turn hard. Is this what you mean by acts like in 4x4 mode?

Don't think it is your rear ABS. Mine has a rear abs malfunction right now to include the light on for it, but it doesn't have this effect you talk about with yours.

I feel a drag or a pull as if the axles are on locking mode.
And you really need to get on the gas to get it to go.

Can you distinguish that it is coming from the rear axle and not the front though? Still thinking it may be an axle shaft issue. If it is the rear in locking mode, going around a corner, you should hear the tires chirp from still turning the same rate of speed.

This is my 1st 4x4 and I'm unsure what's causing it.
So you're thinking the rear axle is at fault.
It does drag and has a chirp or skidding sound.
