my truck was running fine and just died on the freeway. the fuel pump would not run. i checked the fuel pump relay under the hood and it is good. i replaced the fuel pump and had to run a hot wire to it to get it to turn on. the truck will run if you spray gas into the intake but it will not run even though the pump is running without spraying fuel. please help

Are the injectors firing? Put a NOID light on them and see if they are functioning.

tried changing the fuel filter? tried pulling the lines off at the rail to see if fuel is making it up to the rail from the tank? is there fuel in the tank? did your shut off switch trip for any reason?

So, you added a wire to your fuel pump? Sounds as if your fuel pump relay went bad or your inertia switch is tripped.
