1989 WALL-E Ranger Build

Well i picked up a 92 expo for about 600$. I was gonna part it out and make my money back and then some, but as I dont see much interest in my new area in the parts I thought I might rip out the un-needed stuff and sell it and put my tons under the expo.

Would be able to fit more people for a rausch creek trip, and hold more offroad items.

I dont wanna tear up the ranger, because its got the nice set of 4.56s and lockers already, but I dont wanna sell such a built truck that runs so nicely. I will never get what its worth.

Whats everyones ideas on Expo vs. Ranger.

I like the explorer. Harder ro wheel.but when family comes you dont loose the wheeler. Its easy to camp with as well

Itll be a trailer truck. Im done with lifted trucks on the road up here. The cops are attracted to them like magnets. I like the explorer because the weight is more spread out unlike with a bed on a pickup.

Yea even not on the street i mean. At least where we go i trailer to the trails then u can wheel all day not touch a road and camp then wheel back. Just camp in the truck.

Same as with kids. Cant be wheeling with a 4 year old in a jump seat

Yea, I dont have any kids, nor will we. (Kinda cant). So that makes it easier for the future of these projects. Ive just been pushing around the idea of having two trucks and possibly never touching one, which is kind of a waste.

Im able to get a brand new set of 36" IROKS for 700$, But I might wanna run atleast 40s with a d60 and 14B. I will be 15bolting the 14b to gain about 2 inches of clearance.

My votes still for the explorer. I ran 35s on my f350 for a while. Wheeled it a bit (still a dd). Wasnt horrible as far as diff dragging but wasnt great. The dana 60 isnt a big deal its easy to favour that side with your lines. The rear is the issue .

Mine never touched being a 10.25 its much smaller but if u did a 15 bolt conversion it shouldnt be bad. 36" iroks actually measure taller then the 37s as well.

36.5" on the tape measure

Gonna start rebuilding ranger, After I jumped it the springs were shot and I think im the only person whos ever broke the inner axle shaft on pass side. Its a PIA to find one. A lot of friends had shafts i bought but none but one have the inner. They said they never took them because they never broke them.

Going with 3.5" 190ppi deaver superflex EB springs.
Going to be a trailer truck now, no more road for me.

I made some lower coil buckets from 5" pipe. Welded a 3/16 base on them.

Still have to drill the hole, but ill be doing a small peice of .120 wall 1.5" DOM tube under the bottom as a lift for the buckets.

Also ordered the 7/8 heim .25 wall 1.5" DOM steering kit from RSS. Thanks Dan for the hookup on mothers day weekend. Shipped to my door for 209$!!
I have to figure out where each misalignment heim is going to go. never messed with heims. Im assuming they will be at the pitman arm and cross over, and the knuckles will just have the safety washers. Anyone have any input?

Got some big changes planned for this truck. Hope the axles hold up haha.

Ill also be trussing the beams, ive never had an issue with them but well see.

Ive also been loving my garage, been getting a lot of side work from people down here. Ill be picking up a 10k deaver lift at the end of the year. Still trying to organize the garage.

Need to order another Heim, cant run a 7/8 - 3/4 heim at the pitman arm. Steering kit I bought was for a SA not TTB. Oh well. Hopefully I can start getting everything together.

Picked up a full duff kit without trans cross member and coil buckets for 100$.

Cut about 3/8-7/16 off the axle shaft to prevent binding... Ive broken two shafts 1 d28 and 1 d35 from this binding on a jump.

This is with the spring just touching the spring retainer. I dont have retaining straps yet so I cant let it hang.

This is with it jacked up just enough to weight to come off driver jack stand. Def be able to align it.

Ho-fessional coil buckets. 5" pipe with a 3/16 plate underneath. Used my washers from washer lift, 5 of them, to raise the bucket up enough. Reused all TTB washers and hardware to hold it in place too.

Also, took diff apart to find out my ring and pinion are fine, but the lockright locker sheared the pins and springs. I read this is typical of these.. Was wondering why it would randomly unlock from time to time.

Gotta call richmond and order me some springs and pins.

If anyone has suggestions let me know. Still need to make crossmember for t case. I only got one side of the duff rad arm brackets so I made the other side... I love my plasma cutter haha

I take 295 to hook road, to hancocks bridge, then to the plant.
