I am new here, but I can say I've read alot of things that I didn't know about a Ford Ranger. I enjoy reading the forum and learning about my truck.
I am currently building my motor (2.9L) after I just bought it!
It ran okay, ticking, not missing until on the hiway over 45mph. Then power loss and started dropping cylinders. WHAT The .... Checked oil pressure cold and hot. Might say it didn't have any at idle. Motor was junk and the person I bought it from had bandaided it with new mains. He didn't even do that right. The #3 Thrust Bearing wasn't a Thrust on the cap side. Dumb A..
Crank gone, cam, etc.
Only good thing about it was it did have new style fresh heads. Later on the build. I will be putting in the Melling M328 HV pump. I believe that's the right number. 20% more oil but the same pressure. Should help on the upper end and cam bearings, since that's one of the down falls of Fords 2.9L.
