hey guys on my 1988 ford ranger it had a d28 which i swapped in a d35. it also has 6" lift coils with 4" drop brackets. It is a 5speed with a manual transfer case. it didnt come with a front driveshaft and i was wondering if there was one that i could run without having to cut it up. It measures about 30.5" from the transfer case to the pinion. someone told me that the front stock shaft from the d28 would work? anyone with this same setup could tell me what they r using that would be great. thanks -Bobby

bump.trying to find out by the end of tonight so i can grab one at the JY tomarrow.

You don't have the original shaft? Or you don't have the one for the d35?

The shaft from a truck with the same transmission will work for you.

With the d35 swap you usually have to cut an inch off the stock shaft, but with the lift I bet you will be fine with a stock length shaft.

i dont have any driveshaft at all thats the problem. so your saying to just get the stock d28 shaft and it should be the right size?

Well some of the transmission were shorter than the others. I know the m5od and the a4ld are the same length but I'm not sure about the tranny in your truck.

The 88 will have an FM146 If you look for a shaft that came from a FM145 you might get lucky. also like Sasquach said you might be fine with a stock one.

One thing to watch for is the Big joint shaft. There are some that are smaller.
