Is it just me or do others have vibration issues on extended cab Ranges?
I've had the driveshaft worked three different times and pulled the transmission during engine swap to check it. I've checked the differential as well. I've come to the conclusion it's in the transmission. The unit shifts okay but from about 40-60mph it has a noticeable vibration. Is it the overdrive?

Highly doubt it. Mine always had a vibration, it got real bad at about 65. Its a piss poor design. There is honestly zero reason for having a 2 piece shaft. I went around this by swapping a 1 piece drive shaft in my 88'. Here is a link to how- http://www.therangerstation.com/Magazine/June04/offroad.htm

Also you will need a new yoke for the newer shaft to the axle in your truck, I found mine online for under $50. You also en up with a much bigger, stronger, and easier to replace u joint. Hands down just about the greatest modification I have ever done to the truck.

I don't know much about your setup but I do know that if you have a two piece driveshaft with a carrier bearing it is recommended that you loosen the mount when the truck is setting at it's normal ride height and then tighten it up again since the holes are slotted. Otherwise the bearing will be in a bind. Just trying to help.

This works too, I tried it twice. The holes are slotted and allow for a great deal of adjustment, but each time I did this the carrier bearing always went its own way in those slots, no matter how tight I made the bolts, even using 1/2 drive and a cheater the second time. And my driving style is far from crazy.

Could the bolts be bottoming out or running out of thread so it's not really tight? I've seen the rubber around the bearing tear out before the mount would move. :dunno:

Just go with the one peace it will save alot of head ache!
