1988 Core support - Relacement

Tree + strap + reverse = fixed.

I pulled out the bumper on a toyota celica that way.

I was really hoping for a different result when I clicked on this thread, because tonight I was under the truck and noticed that the bottom of my core support has a couple spots that are completely rusted through and will need cut/re-welded. If the core support bolted in it would have been a nice easy swap, but if it's gonna require welding anyway I might as well just cut out the rust and patch it up since the rest of the core support is straight.

But the important question is.... did you bring the deer home to eat it?

No but all of my co-workers asked the same thing. :)

that's pretty pushed in, just replace it. looks like most of the front sheetmetal is gone too, while your replacing it put a core in from an 89-92. I'm pretty sure it will slide in and you can update your front end to composite lights and all that neat stuff. unless you like the gen 1 look or if it doesn't fit and i'm wrong.

I was actually wondering the same thing about the newer style front end with better headlights. There seems to be a lot more 89-92 parts trucks on CL as well.

Little Horse,
Nice avatar. :) WHAT! Is your favorite color?"

lol, I always said that if I hit a deer... it would be coming home with me. If it's gonna bust up my ride, I want something in payment, and a couple deer chops cooked up in cajun spices would be some pretty tasty payment. Hell, even if I couldn't take the whole deer, I keep a knife in the truck that I could use to slice out the tenderloins an backstraps, the two best parts. (well, ok, I'd prolly take the heart too, got a friend who loves 'em).

If you change to the newer core support (89-92), you have to change the hood, front fenders, grill, headlights, and lower valence. Of course, from the looks of it you have to change most of that anyway...

Here is a replacement part, I have no idea how well it would fit.

core support

core support 2

It will cost quite a lot for shipping since it has to go freight.
