1988 BII Build

well, still no work bench....my uncle and nephew came into town, so all we did was move crap from our old house. i live 500 yards from a home depot, so i'm gonna run over there tomorrow and get 2x4's and start building. i can hear all my tools muffled cries for freedom

tried to weld on the axle tubes again, it worked a little better. kept the voltage on high and slowed the wire speed down to 1 and went real slow. pushed instead of pulled and got real nice and steady. this week i may try to get over to 4weel parts after work and get some spring perches, but i have other stuff to do first.

thanks benny

i've got the workbench about halfway done now, my computer doesnt wanna recognize my camera, so i'll upload the pics at lunch.

i pressed the new pivot bushings in my D35 beams last night and installed the 2 new upper ball joints.

gonna grabe a piece of 1/4" plate this weekend and work on the d35 beams this weekend. i'm gonna gusset and brace them in a few places.

got a package from the ups man last night too

here's what the UPS man brought me

-i got 2 crush sleeve's, this way i wont mess up on the first one-if i didnt have an extra, i assure you i'd screw up and overtighten it
-got a shim kit for the carrier and pinion
- a pinion seal (which i dont need since I already got one from the parts store :annoyed:)
-leaf spring bolts-been lookin everywhere for this damn things, i hope they're the right size.

these bad boys also came with it, i love them, should add at least 300 hp

had the old b2 towed to the shop last week. i absolutely could not get it to turn over. i set the timing at 11* BTDC, manually checked to make sure that cylinder 1 was in the right place and still couldnt get the damn thing to turn over. had fuel, but no spark.

well me and the wife had to move from our old place, so i towed to my local guy and he just got it running!!!!!:yahoo:

just needed a new distributor, something inside it had broken at some point. not the TFI and not the rotor, but something in there. they threw another in there and it fired right up.

had them do some other stuff i've been meaning to fix too, just so i dont have to bother with it. i just need to wrap up the exhaust and it'll be street legal again.

the lift will be going on sometime in the next couple weeks :icon_cheers:

got the new "shop" squared away this weekend as well. my tools can breathe and have some space now

brought her home last night, it is LOUD as shit without the mufflers on it. even for a 2.9 v6. it sounds like a race car, i love it. gonna put the muffler on though.

it drives ok, but the timing is off, so it's a little sluggish. i'm gonna have to fine tune it once i get the exhaust squared away.

i cant decide if i should put the lift on first, or getting it running right first.

and for anyone that says you need a 4" lift on a b2 to clear 31's, you're wrong. it didnt rub anywhere on the drive home last night. i have 31x10.50's on stock wheels and it didnt bind or rub anywhere. could be because i removed the front sway bar (which, on a side note, it rides AWESOME, shoulda done it sooner)

i'm pretty sure i'm gonna run 33's with the 4 inch lift once i save up for them.

$268 for the lift?

2.9 is loud w/out exhaust huh.. lol, the 4.0 aint as loud as the 2.9...

lol, hell yeah it is. it has headers too

i loved the flowmaster sound of the 2.9 on mine, when i did the 4.0 swap- I wasn't happy with the sound, it was not loud enough lol. so i'm not running a muffler at all on mine now. no muffler on a 4.0 is about like the flow on the 2.9. its weird.
