1988 BII Build

Does it clear the frame? I know mine is close with the drop arm.

it's gonna be close at the frame too. i havent cycled the steering yet. everything is hooked up though. i'm gonna bleed the brakes after work this week and get the d-shaft in and see what kinks i need to work out

started doing some little stuff around the truck tonight. i was gonna start it, but the battery is dead, so i have it trickle charging.

tried to hook up my front driveshaft, but the old factory one is too short. i had cut 2" off of it when i put the D35 in, but even if i hadnt, it would have still been too short.

i also adjusted adjusted the pinion angle in the front axle, now my upper link on the driver side is too short. ugh. just gonna sleeve it and extend it a tad.

the hurricane is gonna hit us this weekend so i'll have time to work on it.

I had to extend my factory one 2 inches for my d30. Fine one that needs shortening, it will be cheaper.

Also, adjustable arms were a must and are nice to have.

that's the plan if i have to. but i have 2 other d-shafts laying around and i should be able to use one of them. just need to put the slip yoke on it.

i got my upper link extended and started to bleed the brakes, but one of the fittings i used was for a 1/4" brake line and it needs to be a 3/16" fitting. thankfully, i noticed it after i had only done the back right tire.

going out of town tomorrow so it's gonna have to wait til after work this week.

went to work on the B2 this morning and found this:

got everything i needed from autozone to get the brakes bled and did that this morning. tried to crank it and got nothing. hooked up the explorer with some jumper cables and it started right up. so i think the battery is just dead. gonna take it to autozone and see what a new one would cost.

then i just need to get a driveshaft in out back and i can drive it around. more later

looks good! Need some real rubber on there tho!

it looks even more better outside haha :icon_rofl: cant wait to see some wheelin pic here soon great job man

thanks fellers.....i'm happy with it for right now.

i got a new battery and she fires right up now. it's still loud til i get the exhaust on.

put the rear d-shaft in and welded in the shock tabs for the rear shocks. i'll most likely end up getting new shocks, i think these are too long.

then i drove it around a little bit in the parking lot. cant do much cause i dont have any oil in the diffs. i also had forgotten to put power steering fluid in it and i could get it to turn at first. i topped it off and now it steers just fine. has a good bit of power too for running 31's with 373s and the 2.9.

and hell yes, i need some real/bigger tires for sure. good news is, i have a final interview for another promotion at work on tuesday which would mean another $5 or $6k a year. hopefully i can get it so i can have a little $$$ for my truck/gun addictions lol

No oil in the diffs and you drive it?? That's something i wouldn't attempt.

It's good to see it drives.

i said drove, but it was more like backed it up and drove it forward and made sure the power steering pump was full. probably didnt go but 2 miles per hour. wont hurt anything.

Yeah it will be fine. They have to get pretty hot to cause a problem I have sold lots of axles and guys would text me after they installed it and say the axle is making this howling noise. I would ask did you put oil in it? And I would get oh crap comment back. LOL One guy drove it like 6 blocks. :icon_rofl::D Reason you can get away without oil in them for awhile is they use roller bearings so a lot less friction going on in there. One of my customers actually drove 10 miles and grenaded his Dana 35 since he never checked it. I felt bad so I fixed it for free but made him buy the parts.

Looks good bro. Is it just me, or is your caster WAY off on that front passenger tire? Shock length looks perfect to me.
