1988 BII Build

oh and i figured out that all the stuff i ordered fro 4WP the other day was wrong. the pics on the site are very misleading. apparently they use the same pic for all the johnny joints. i went today and got the new stuff ordered, but it wont be here for 2 frickin weeks. good news is, they were having some sort of weekend sale thing, so the new stuff will probably cost less....good thing i screwed up.

started fabbing up my lower shock mount. it was missing whatever the factory piece is when i bought. i'll get some shock tabs from ballistic or make my own

started on the track bar too. made a plate to cover the hole in the frame and then used the pump bolts to bolt it on. i'll probably weld it on too.

did a little more, just need to add a couple more filler pieces and it'll be done.

thinking about it, just to be safe. i have a bunch of 3/16" and 1/4" scrap laying around that my dad had at work. plus, i have 2 weeks to kill waiting on the johnny joints to come in. once i get the tracker bar laid out, i'll add more of a truss on the bottom and on the short side too

if this thing is going to see some wheeling, you might ought to weld the tubes to the center section, I have seen people do plug welds where the holes are in the center section, and then do a bead around the tube.

My d30 came with the tubes welded to the diff already so I was happy there.

yeah i agree. i'm gonna weld them just to be safe.

due to the leakage problems escort has been having with his power steering pump, i decided i'm either gonna rebuild mine or just buy a new one. i screwed up the threads getting the old drop pitman arm off, so i dont really have a choice. still no word from 4WP about my bushings/johnny joints (only been a week anyhow). so i should have plenty of time to locate a new one or rebuild it. i'm gonna order my new pitman arm tomorrow and get the rest of my parts ordered from ruff stuff and ballistic

finished some of the welding on the truss. gonna gusset the C's this weekend, then start laying everything out. should be able to mod my upper coil buckets too.

just doing the upper C, i dont think the bottom needs it, but we'll see how much time i have on my hands.

4wp called, my parts are in.....so much for it taking 2 weeks. hopefully this is the new stuff i ordered and not the stuff i accidently ordered. going to get it after work, so we'll see. ordered some heims and DOM from ruff stuff today as well. i may go pick up my arm metal tomorrow, we'll see. tonight is my bday and i may not be able to move in the morning.

not my favorite kind of "joints", but they'll do for my SAS.

johnny joints, xbox game for scale

bushings that will connect to axle, i'm thinking i'll swap these out for a weld on flex joint.
