1987 ranger help please

Glad someone else has this weird problem.. The only thing is mine only does it maybe once a day.. That is odd the safety switch makes it rev that way. Untill I read this I really thought it was a vacuum leak.. I'm gonna check this out tomorrow.

you have this same problem? yes if i start it in nertural its fine but if its in gear it revs up everytime

Mine does exactly the same thing varified it today. I have no idea why though.

nether do i. how long has yours been doing this? im almost tempted to cut the wires off and splice them together

About a year or so. It's strange it's not like the switch is bad. How about this, my clutch switch disabled I wonder if that had something to do with it.

idk try it lol i tryed unplugeing the nutral switch and all it did was make it do it every time i started it

I've been looking around but to no avail.. I have a newer 2.9 computer I have been thinking about swapping to, but I've really found no info to speak of for that either..
