Hey i have a ranger 2.9l 4x4 auto with two tanks

i ran out of gas in one tank 100 yards from my driveway, rolled er in tho

i switched the tanks and cycled the key a bunch of times, no go

removed cannister style filter, cycled key, no fuel came out

high pressure pump can easily be heard

bypassed inertia switch, checked fuel pump relay

added gas to both tanks, tried them both no dice

so i guess my low pressure in tank pumps arent getting power, neither of em are, and i doubt they both quit at the same time,

any help would be awesome, thanks

Check the selector switch. It may have given out. I would verify that neither tank pump is getting power instead of just guessing though. You may have a bad selector valve too.

Usually an air lock will clear itself through the FPR(fuel pressure regulator) on the fuel rail.

The FPR has a vacuum line attached, when engine is idling the FPR is held open by the high vacuum, sending fuel back to the fuel tank.

Just as a test, put a longer vacuum line on it, or a vacuum pump, and suck on it, this will open the FPR relieving any air pressure in the rail.
If possible have someone cycle the key on and off a few times while FPR is open, maybe get the prime back.

hey thanks for the replies,

checked the in dash switch is fine

does the selector valve control electricity too? or is the pump given power from the in dash switch?

im going to pull the box off to access the rear in tank pump, check for power or maybe spot something, im running out of things to try

dont die on me ranger... not now.... not like this!!!
