Wanted 1987 ford ranger 2.3 Manual computer

Not sure of comparability but I’ve got an 85 ranger 4x4 2.3 manual.

Doing s little searching I’m seeing 85 and 86 comparable but no mention of 87. If someone does chime in and say yes I’ll get back to you with a price. You have a part #

This info is from rockauto. You can see some of the computers match, but you will have to check the numbers on the computer.

I don’t know which one i need though cause i manual swapped my 87 2.3 ranger, what is the difference between the computers?

Did a check on all sensors and injectors. All but the O2 sensor and TPS sensor are the same. I would use them out of your engine and stick with the computer for your truck. I have had good luck with Cardone. Hope this helps. Auto zone has a good site to tell you what parts fit, what years and what engines.

You have a 85 that was a 2.3 and now you have a 87 2.0 in it?

No I have an 87 2.3 efi that had the a4ld, that i switched to a tk5 manual out of an 87 2.0 carbed

Use a Federal Emissions computer for a manual trans for the 2.3. On the 1988 and 1990 I changed to manual the difference in the 2 computers on those were Federal versus California emissions.

You need to get the computer that the first 4 letters and numbers match yours. E5TF is actually a 85 computer which was still used in 87. E is for the 1980 year. The 5 stands for 1985. The E7TF is 1987. They changed the programing. 1990 would be F0 for 1990 and so on. These are programmed for an auto or manual. They are not listing Federal or California emissions for these.
