1987 A/C Delete question: Will the defrost work once the compressor is removed?

I agree with you. The AC in my 98 Ranger hasn't worked in years. I've never had any problem driving it otherwise, cold or hot. I use heat on a cold window all the time to defog it. Never been a problem for me. But, I am not one of those who jumps in a vehicle, starts it and drives off. A few minutes warm up, especially in the winter, goes a long way.

Reality is I drive my Ranger more than any of my other vehicles. Like the old gal. Had it since January 2000. I do my best to take care of it, ac withstanding. It's my bad weather vehicle, and living in Oklahoma, there is usually a lot of bad weather.

She got a brand spanking new front suspension in July 2018. My friend and I took lots of measurements before disassembling. Put it back together, the tires have been wearing superbly. So never bothered to get the front end aligned. Every damn place out here wants you to make a damn appointment. I don't make appointments I can't keep. So as long as the tires continue to wear great, F em!

My 87 has A/C that is not hooked up or functioning. My defrost works just fine

My ac vehicles fog worse then my non AC. And in a higher variety of conditions.

As long as you plug the holes if you remove the evaporator, it will blow better and harder. Or if replacing the engine side of the evap box for more room, just make sure it is sealed.

These days. I would rather have ac

Warm air condenses on cold surfaces... thats just how things work... :dunno:

Unless you disagree with my rag idea... I have no rebuttle to that.
You are completely correct. So if you warm the windshield up, then the moist air will not condense on it correct? The rag idea always works.

I've found that if I just crack window a bit the defrost works quite well even without AC.
