Im trying to time my 1986 v6 2.9 4x4 ford ranger but i forgot how to since the last time i did this was 2 years ago. I looked in my Hanes book but cant find it. Srry if its a stupid question but can some one tell me how to do it or atleast the basics.:headbang:

pull the spout connector. its a small grey or black connector located near your TFI module (it isnt connected to anything, the part you unplug is a jumper).

connect timing light and set dizzy to 10 degrees base. reinstall spout.

its behind the distributor, pretty close to the firewall, where the distributor goes into the block.

KOOL FOUND IT! i PUT IT ON TDC BUT IT SUCKED SO NOW IM GOING TO 10 DEGREES.

sO ITS SUPPOSED TO BE AT 10. i m going to test drive it and ill tell you in a couple of minutes:headbang:

yes its supposed to be at 10 with the spout removed.

dont forget to plug the spout back in before you drive or else you wont have any ignition advance and it'll be a dog.

Where can I find the timing at on a 1986 ford ranger?
