1985 Bronco II starter grinding/spinning nightmare

That will help but only if you wanna risk voiding the warranty on a new/remanned starter.

Part No. SD353

The best thing to do is to just buy a BRAND NEW starter. Not a remanned. Get a good brand.
That way you know its not gonna fail on you. (Free wheel. I went through like 5 remanned starters until I went new. They all free wheeled.) That grinding sound might be that unless its working fine and starting the engine but making a grinding sound. Then Id try and adjust the starter closer to the flywheel, ring gear, or if its a auto. flex plate.

If the mounting plate is worn, then the starter will move away from the ring gear teeth, causing the grinding sound.
