i have just bought a 1984 BroncoII with a 2.8 V6
I am wondering what emissions i can take off, or what would be a good aftermarket Carb to put on ( i would like to stick with motorcraft if possible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

autolite/motorcraft 2150 with the 1.08 venturi is what I use and you can remove all the emission stuff if you do the duraspark conversion as long as you dont need to pass emissions. Look in the tech library under duraspark conversion and do a search here. All you need is the carb and spacer # felpro 60529. For the ignition you need a dizzy cap rotor adaptor and module and you can eliminate 90% of the wires on the engine you just need to keep the alternator oil and water temp wires. On the 84 the module is pretty much plug and play you just need to splice the green wire to the neg on the coil and three wires to the dizzy. GL

If you have overdrive you will need to address it there are several options the switch on the dash is the easyest otherwise it is basically plug and play, I paid about $130 for all the parts the dizzy harness I got out of a 84 ranger 4cyl and the only wire I had to splice was for the neg to the coil just use the stock coil. T remove the emission harness I pulled the connector thru the firewall for the computer. At the 8 wire rectangular connector by the coil strip it back to the alternator (shielding and tape) and keep the oil pressure water temp sensors plugged in along with the alternato and remove the harness back to hte 8 wire connector I only cut two wires to remove the whole harness and cut those wires long for possible future use. All the vacuum lines go away also along with the egr. you will be amazed how much room that crap takes up you can actually see the engine and work on it.
