Will the new improved later 2.9 heads bolt onto the 2.8 engine? Would it make much of a power difference? Can the 4.0 be a carb motor so I do not have to do much wire chasing?

Thanks Jim

the 2.9 heads will not work on the 2.8, as for the 4.0 being made into a carb motor I am not sure but the wiring to do the 4.0 swap is not that hard. I did it on my 84 but I used the complete dash and harness from an explorer. I also did the swap on a friends ranger and wired it up in a day.

The 4.0 is not WORTH being made into a carb engine. It never had a dis, the ignition was computer controlled from day one.

If you want to stay carb 5.0 is the way to go.
