I have a 1983 ranger and when I got it the engine interior was shot, we put a 2.3 mustang engine in it and swapped over all the parts from the old engine to this one and we took out the computer and all the wires and junk by converting it to a duraspark distributor but in doing so the carb seems to be running way too rich and it doesnt run right.. what kind of carb should i pit on it or what can i do?

I am not sure on the 2.3 feedback carb but for the 2.8 feedback there is a metering block you can make to allow air bleed into the venturies. The more air the leaner the mix so you need to be careful as too lean at high speeds can burn valves. According to my manual the fuel valve on the carb has two wires hot from the ignition and it is controlled by ground from the mcu the solenoids run on battery voltage so you can try applying power full time to it with the key on and see if that leans it out just be careful. There is another guy on here converting from FI to a carbed 2.3 maybe he figured out which carb would be good. I am pretty sure it is that damn feedback solenoid if you are sure all the vacuum leaks are plugged.

Running rich can be caused by a few things...and vacuum might be a good place to start...

As far as replacement carbs, what carb do you have? 1 bbl, 2bbl or is it a 4bbl (rare, but someone on here had a setup for this years ago...)

Oh, and 1 bbl is one barrel in case you're not familiar with that term...
