I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine in my 83 ranger. The stock exhaust manifold was cracked but i'm going to be able to weld it back up so it won't leak, but my dilema is i have found a Hedman Header for around 160$ but i was curious if a header is even worth it? Not sure if it will make enough difference to matter or will it just sound different?

It would help at least a little bit. For $160 I say take it.

You can get the stock header from a 96 and up ranger for cheap. It's a tubular shorty header that came from the factory, and they are usually on ebay for about 50 bucks.

really? So 93 and up huh? how much cutting and welding would that take? cause i just don't want to burn a hole in my pocket and if i could get one for 50 bucks i would rather do that then pay 170 for the one i was looking at. i actually already bought it but i'm gonna return it i think cause realistically i dont think i'll gain any performance out of it but it would look better than my stock one, plus it has to be welded cause it had 2 big cracks in it. thanks guys!!!!
