Hello all,
I have a 1983 2.0 caborated completly stock motor in my ranger. i have noticed latley when i come to a stop my engine RPM is higher than normal. some where probably 1200 rpm apposed to the normal 800 RPM. It never happens at start up just after i get on under way does it happen.

The engine is leanked to a 4 speed.

Does anyone know the cause of this?

Thanks,
Ryan form Md

do you have emission controls in place? they get complicated on these engines and can cause all kinds of wierd symptoms...could also be a small vacuum leak...around the base of the carb may be one place...

Have you removed any parts recently or changed anything?

yes most of the emissions is in place. the only thing removed from the truck is the air pump and the check valve in the middle of the pump and the manifold.i recently removed the valve, the pump has been disconnected for some time.

Thanks
