1982 suzuki dr250

i just bought a 82 suzuki then i looked at it it was running carb wasnt leaking or anything and i brought it home and i put it int he truck to go for a rip and i got out there started driving then realized it was pumping fuel out of the over flow and bottom but it still runs what would cause this?

sticky float, dirty needle seat.. misadjusted float.

thats what comes to my mind. unless i read you wrong

What works some times is to turn off the fuel and tip the bike to drain some fuel out of the carburetor.Then turn the fuel back on sometimes this drops the needle down to make room to flush the dirt out.If that doesn't work take the float bowl off and try working the float valve making sure it's working and adjusted properly.Old bikes do this sometimes keeping the fuel off while not riding is helpful too.
