I am looking for information on my truck:

1981 Ford Ranger 4x4 with Factory Duel Fuel Tanks

Just looking for some backround information such as, was this a special order feature on this truck? Is this truck worth more than a regular single fuel tank of the same year and style? How rare is this model? and so on.

Any information or leads to other websites to get this iformation would be very much appreciated!!

Thanks, KBP

Many of the people on here would trade there left nut for the equipment to convert there truck(s) to dual tanks.

1981? It's probably a f-series.

it is an F series, no probably about it. unless he is wrong on the year.

"Ranger" was a trim level option on the F-series.

Dual tanks were an option for several years on the Gen 1 Ranger-Ranger. Not real common but they're out there.

Did they not still make full sized Rangers in '81?

My dad has a 1980 F-350 Ranger, it happens to have dual tanks as well. Dual tanks where really common in fullsize trucks up until the '97 F-150's and '99 Super Duties came out.

I just scored a 88' Ranger XLT, 2wd Supercab. It has Dual Tanks. I was curious on what the fuel capacity and MPG is. Its in pristine shape.

dont know capacity, but you can figure out mpg by filling up 1 tank all the way, now reset the tripometer on your dash. drive on the interstate at 55 mph -60 mph for a good bit say 100 miles fill it back up to the same point and divide the amount of gallons it took to fill back up, by miles driven (use the tripometer) and the answer is your MPG

Total capacity is going to be around 27 gallons, give or take a bit.

As for MPG, you tell us, you are the one driving it.
