I kind of like it but I'd want slightly taller tires and the rear wheels to be centered in the wheel opening. I was working on new 75 F100's, the 300 sixes were bulletproof but we had no end of problems with the 360's and 390's due to worn out machining equipment at the factory.
 
Dude cmon. This things on a different level. Atlrast you kept the factory chassis so in theory it could be put back original.

Actually... This is exactly what I’m doing. I’m looking for a newer Superduty chassis to put my ‘79 body on. I don’t plan on changing much of anything on the body. I plan on modifying the chassis to fit the body. I just want 4wd with better handling and ride.
From the looks of this, he did the same thing only with a car chassis. I think the 73-79 body was the nicest looking trucks ford designed, but there’s room for improvement on the chassis.

Ive never had an issue with the chassis. They perform just fine as a truck.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t tons of room for improvement... that just means you find it acceptable. You can’t honestly tell me that a 70’s F250 and a 2012 F250 ride, handle, or perform anywhere near the same. I know for a fact that the newer truck can out accelerate, out brake, and pretty much out do a 70’s truck in every category except style.
I prefer old steel with a new feel.

Out accelerate? A hopped up 460, 4 speed, and a set of 4.10s against a 6.2L im saying the 460 is gonna take it.

Braking? Start stopping sooner. Pretty easy. Stuff ran out infront of people in the 70s too. Something tells me that assuming the braking system on the dentside is in good working order the difference here wouldnt be as much as you think.

Towing the 2012 has an advantage, but once again a hopped up 460 isnt going to have an issue in the power dept and trailer brakes have come a long way. Id also be willing to bet actual payload capacity is also pretty close when you figure in the 70s truck being considerably lighter then the superduty.

Believe whatever you want...
Compare a a “hopped up 460” to a stock 6.2l so you can live in your 1970s fantasy world. Keep imagining that 1975 drum brakes are as good as 2012 disc brakes.

Later 70s Disc/drum combos stopped damn good.

A stock 6.2 is what...400ish ftlbs in 2012? A carbed STOCK 460 was in the 380 range. It wouldnt take much.

You might beat it on the highway...but if youre towing the kinda weight it would take to make either engine snort 55-60 is the fastest you shoild be going anyway.

460 better? Sure, it's better for gas station owners, oil refineries.... ;)

Not enough to justify ripping apart a late 70s 3/4 ton just to mount it on the SD chassis. Unless the 70s truck is rotted underneath.

If not sell it to someone who'll apperciate it and just buy a damn superduty instead of bastardizing something that get more scarce everyday.

Biden is just going to label all vehicles built before 2002 as gross polluters and outlaw them. You’ll have to buy an electric car.
