so, i know this doesnt fit in this site at all, but i was hoping those of you with rods would help me with some ideas, so over the past years ive been rebuilding the 1940 mercury, keeping it as origional as possible, engine and all... well now im seariously consierdering modernizing drivetrain and engine, frame is still the origional 40, and i was thinking about throwing a mustang II front end into it, how much on end would the custom fab work to the frame run? im by no means going to trst my life withmy welds lol... also anyone know any companys that modernize origional gauges? i ran across a few years ago, but at the time i dident have the plans i do now.

There are loads of companies that offer prefabbed MII kits. Give them the framerail dimension (outside to outside) and what steering gear you're using and they'll get you what you need. Just google Mustang II front ends.

Fat Mans' has the front suspension along with several others. one place used to have an adapter to run the old flaty with a c-4. I also used to know some people that re-did the gauges, one was down in Roscoe, IL. Hemmings magazine is always a good reference for a lot of the old stuff/parts/services. Sound like a fun project!

Cars on youtube

Punch in Mercs or such on youtube, you'll find all kinds of hot, street, rat and rods, led sleds, classics and builds.

Here's a site you might want to check out. It covers T's, A's, Flatheads, OHV's and Streetrods. Plenty of old school wisdom on every phase of early Ford.
