19 lb injectors or headers

Ok so first off about the truck it's an 88 super with 2.9 5 speed 4x4. The truck in a week or so will be up on 36 inch tires running 4.88 rear ends. Now onto the motor it been ported heads lower and upper intakes running a 85 tb. The sparks are MSD coil and distbutor with 8mm wires and hotter plugs running 14 degrees advance on 92 gas. K&N filter and high flow cats and thrush 3 inch inlet duel 2.5 out right before the tire. Would the 19 lb injectors be money better spent on headers
 
Unless you have done something to up the compression significantly your money would be best spend on 87 gas. And don't tell me you THINK it will ping. I run 15* advance on my 87 with 87 gas and not a single knock since that engine has been in the truck.

Bang for the buck of fuel vs flow, I'd get the injectors first.
 
Flat top pistons 10 over and heads shaved down a bit down cant think of how much. Thanks man so your thinking more fuel I'll feel more power
 
You have already done quite a bit to improve engine flow-through and exhaust flow, by the sounds of it.

You have the larger throttle body, you have the hot spark. Now you need to throw more fuel at it.

My 88 has over 100K on it, an FM146, and 3.73 gears. Bone stock.

My 87 has a hopped up cam, heavy injectors, the smaller TB, a 4.0 M5OD and a set of headers. 3.45 gears, and less then 10K on the rebuild.

They are about the same on the butt-dyno. I don't think the headers did a whole lot, they were just on there when I bought the engine.
 
Yeah I got a lot of small stuff not quite sure on the motors year but I know it was pre 89 by the heads I could tell also swapped to better 90s heads I wanna do free floating rockers electric fans and an oil cooler then get the computer set up for all the mods if that's even a possibly. I love the fm146 never had a problem with it had it in 4 trucks and hooked up to 3 different engines
 
How is everyone tuning in the bigger injectors? I wanna do the 19lb injectors from a 5.0 mustang... aready have the 86 throttle body on.
 
i can tell u once u start throwing more power at it that fm146 wont hold up!! i blew mine to peices literally the m50d with a 6puck sprung extreme presser plate an a new flywheel/starter from a 4.0 is so worth it!!!! the aftermarket driveshaft is a big plus too my rig does 140mph on a daily basis an loves it lol
