180* Phase Question

I recently modded my turn signal on my headlight assembly to my side marker. When my parking lights are off it is all good/insync but with them on they are 180* out of phase (one is on the other is off situation). I want them to blink at the same time with my parking lights on. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you might not have a ground hooked up correctly between the turn signal bulb/filament, and the parking lamp bulb/filament.

I thought that's what was known to happen with that set up...

It has to be out of phase, If you look at how the circuit works it's kind of a trick really. The ground is attained by the other non active circuit via the bulb. There is an explanation of the circuit somewhere on the site.

That's interesting... Now that I think of it, I do seem to recall seeing some alternating blinkers on some cars in the past.

I'm sure some minor rewiring could get them to blink in phase though (obviously there's some connection between the parking lamp bulb and the blinker bulb circuit. It would only be a matter of completely separating the two circuits so they're independent of each other).

My 80's Oldsmobile did that, the 00-03 Focuses did that. I've always liked it personally. Drew more attention to your signaling and that you are going to turn.
