My old BMWs put out 14 as a norm. I dont know what is normal for the Ranger. I would just as soon not boil the Valuecraft battery I bought last summer. TIA

Ranger normal voltage running is 14.5. Anything 13.5-15.5 is acceptable voltage. Anything over or under needs to be addressed...

Yep! My 3G routinely hits 14.7.:)

13.0 to 15.5 will function

13.5 to 15.0 is good enough

14.0 to 15 is really good.

Around 14.5 is optimal.

Unless there is a high load on the system, AC, dead battery, all the lights and the radio cranked, I don't usually like to see much above 14.8.

just watch for a battery cable with corrosion inside the plastic coating...that made my alt. gradually increase as the cable got worse.....

If you are checking voltages when the alternator is cold, 14.7 is pretty much normal. Once the alternator builds up heat, 14-14.5 is normal.
I would never run more than 15 volts as that would hurt the battery.

Heres another one for its no problem. That is what it should be at :icon_thumby:

Thank you gennulmen. I once had an overcharged battery blow up in the spousal unit's car. Glad to know truck is behaving . It was titled as having 126K miles Hard fun miles, looks like. With a 5 digit odometer, who knows? Marina wants me to review her manual shifting. She learned to drive in my '62 bug and drove them for 15 yrs. :D
