1" wheel spacer???

Dose any one know if i install a set of 1" wheel spacers on my 99 ranger will i have to cut down the stock studs on the truck???

You never wanna cut down your wheel studs. If anything you would want to add more to em with the spacer. You definatly dont wanna make the studs holding your tires on any weaker then they have to be.

ive heard some good reviews on wheel spacers. and ive heard some bad ones. i would personally try to avoid them.

what do you need 1" for? i wouldnt even think that would be that noticable..

1" spacing is a huge difference. i had to cut about a 1/4" off of the end of the studs on my 2002. i didnt have any problems running them either.

i dont see how cutting the studs shorter would make them weaker!

I need the 1" spacing because i did a hub swap to manual locking hubs and they are alittle bit longer than the stock. so my 22's center cap wont fit because of this. so the the 1" spacing would make the center caps fit. and it would look better with my off road tires to.

How would you go about triming down the studs were you would not ruin the threads????[B][/B]

Ok that makes no sense. You added the wheel spacers to make your truck wider. Correct me if im wrong but wouldnt that make the studs shorter since the rim will be farther out on the studs? Also they could make them weaker if the wheel nuts dont have enough thread to hold the tire on. There was never any mention of adding longer studs either so thats why im confused.

no, you do not, and should never need too cut down the stock studs

if i am correct i believe he is using spacers that will bolt to the factory studs and have a seperate set of studs attached to the spacer that the wheel will bolt to which is why he may need to trim the studs with only a 1" spacer. anyways IMO i dont trust spacers and dont think they are a good idea but i guess you will probably just have to test fit one to find out if you have to trim them.

yes you will have to trim the studs with a 1" bolt on spacer, I had to with 1.25" spacers. all I did to trim them down was with them bolted on, I used a cut off wheel on my grinder and just too off the end sticking out past the spacer.
