Can I just order ( NEW ) the correct 1 piece drive shaft I will need once my 6 in suspension lift is installed?? I really don't want to mess around with used drive shafts in junk yards etc etc etc.

THANKS!!!

Yeah, you can still get them new or at least re-maned. any 98+ will work, you just might need to trim the tank skid plate a bit.

And expect it to be stupid expensive from the dealer.

I would find a driveline shop and have them make you one out of heavy wall tube.

yeah. Even Napa wants $300+.

So I can go to an auto parts store an ask for a new drive shaft for a 1998-2010 and there ALL the same? Ok kewl that is what I will do is just buy there best one they sell from an auto parts store and bring this to the 4x4 shop who will be installing my lift.

Well they aren't ALL the same. 98-02 has a steel shaft that is about 1/2 the circumfrence of the 03+ aluminum ones. Some very late ones have a different sized flange too. Your body options also make a difference. Know your wheel-base going into the store, and I'd try to get a 98-02 steel shaft. They aren't particularly stronger adn they do weigh a bit more, but they are smaller around, so you don't need to trim as much off the skid plate.

Do what Sasquatch Ryda says, have a driveline shop make you one. All you need to do is give them the tranny yoke, length, and what kind of spindles you want to use. Mine for my 302 swap costed me only $180 for a 3 1/2" dia. driveshaft.

I just had the shop make mine out of my old 2 piece shaft, which is nice because it uses smaller diameter tube that will not hit the gas tank skid plate.
