Ive been seeing a lot of off roaders use this for cages, bumpers, sliders and was just wondering if it is strong enough for all three? Its a lot cheaper than the 1.75" DOM i was gonna use. I wanna make sure before i buy a 1.5" die for the JD2 tubing bender I'm gonna order. Thanks!

it works fine for sliders and bumpers, cages it works. but after a good hit i will probably tweak up pretty good. but if it saves your life i guess its worth it.

mine will be done out of it.

Agreed, bumpers & sliders it's decent (might dent fairly easy as a slider though)

For a cage I suggest using DOM (1.5" is fine for inside RBVs).

Okay, so if i bought the 1.5" die then i could bend HREW or DOM. So if i made the sliders out of 1.5" DOM would it be that much stronger than the HREW?

Why not make the sliders out of 2x3" or 2x4" rect. tube? (save the DOM for your cage)

I'm building my cage out of 1.75x.12 DOM, but thats to fit into a racing class

well, i really cant decide on whether to get the 1.5" or 1.75" die with my bender. I've read all over the web people saying that 1.5" HREW is not strong enough and will just bend and dent. I don't plan on ever flipping the truck just making a tube bed and some other parts. Just don't wanna get the 1.5" die and then wish i woulda gotten the 1.75" down the road. People running 1.5" HREW, how is it holding up?

Make sliders out of square tubing . And I vote that you should get the 1.75 die . Only having the 1.5 limits what I can do .

Gonna get the 1.5" die. 1.75" tubing even HREW is was to expensive for what i need. I like trailriggs tube bed and that's what I'm going for. Ill use DOM for the main supports and HREW for the rest. Thanks Guys!

That is what most people do that use HREW. Use the DOM for main hoops and fill in with HREW. be careful how you bend HREW. It could split at the seam. Extreme 4x4 did any episode on it, should be able to find it on you tube. Good luck and take pics so we can :icon_rofl: or :icon_thumby:

Yeah i heard your supposed to bend it with the seam on the inside. 97TrailRig ^^ did his all out of 1.5 HREW and it turned out great! I Ordered the JD2 bender today so i will post up pics when its complete. Thanks for all the help guys!
