0psi oil pressure

So I was driving my truck home from my shop for the first time and I made it about 2 miles away and all of the sudden my oil pressure went from 45psi to 0


Has anyone had this problem happen to them?

I'm going to drop the pan saturday and check the pick up, pump, mains and look for a few other things while im in there. I cant seem to think of a reason why this happened unless there is some silicone on the screen because the engine is brandnew.

Try priming in with a drill before you tear it apart, see if you can get oil up through the pushrods.
This will let you know if the pump has issues.

Stupid things like a loose oil filter (or gauge sending unit...) can drop the oil pressure.

Was this 45PSI off an actual guage or was it off the factory dash guage? Was there any odd noises after it went to "0"?

Is this a fresh rebuilt engine? If so and if you put new plugs in the 3 front oil galley passages (press in type) I am willing to bet that the one on the driver side bottom blew out. I have seen this many times. I will never do a rebuild with out tapping them holes for screw in plugs. Do what Teddy said and pull the dist. and use a primer and look into the dist hole and see if you can see alot of oil spraying in there. If this was a used engine then this may not be the problem but I would still check it to make sure.
