Hello Everybody,

I'm a total newb when it comes to modding my Ranger and was looking for opinions/advice. I love my little truck but I'm tired of it looking more like an el camino than a truck so I'm thinking of lifting it a bit and putting on some bigger boots. What I've got in mind is new shackles and keys to lift it 2'' in order to accomodate 33'' BFG A-T T/A's (as wide as is practical on stock wheels). First of all, will this work. And second of all, is it an alright idea considering I don't plan on doing TOO much off-roading aside from the odd camping trail and country backroad. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm planning on installing a K&N Series 77 Cold Air Intake and eventually a Magnaflow 2.5'' Dual cat-back system.

Thanks,

Logan

Yeah you will be able to fit 33s with that set up I think the 4.0 sounds really good with 2.25 fake duals its not all that loud but its got some sound for the k&n everyone has there 2cents some say it works some say it doesn't I put a spectrum brand from autozone and I got better fuel milage but that's it

Thanks a lot! Any idea how wide I should go on my stock rims (I believe they're 16x7's). I might go ahead and order the parts for the lift this week!

In 2008 Ford began using lower torsion bar keys and rear lift blocks. You can lift it an inch or so just by installing 2007-earlier parts.
A torsion bar crank using the older keys and rear blocks will fit a narrow 33" like a 285/75-16 on your stock wheels or a 33x10.50-15 on aftermarket wheels.
Most aftermarket 16x8 wheels have a GM-type offset that will put the tires too close to the body and they will rub. The Pro Comp 1069 and 1089 have the least backspace of any 16x8 I've seen, around 4".
To use wider 33's like a 305/70-16 or 33x12.50-15 you will need either a bodylift or a real lift kit (Superlift, costs $2000) and 16x8 wheels with no more than 4" backspace, 16x10 wheels with no more than 4.25" backspace, 15x8 wheels with 3.75" backspace (very common) or 15x10 wheels with no more than 4.25" backspace.
