Would an 06 8.8 out of a ranger be a direct bolt in for my 95 ranger? I called a salvage yard and the guy told me that it would not fit...Any help is appreciated thank you

It will, just check the gear ratio, that might be why the guy said it wouldn't work, but it will bolt to your truck

i hate to beat it to death, but there's not difference with the pinion flange and driveshaft? they're all the same?

The pinion change was in 89-90 when Ford switched from a 7.5 to an 8.8, which I believe was from 2.5" to 3" bolt pattern...same was used through 2010 IIRC

If you do end up doing this, be sure to let us know how it goes. I'd like to do the same and I am curious if the abs sensor and parking brake cable are compatible.

i just put an 8.8 from an 06 into my 94. the parking brake cable set-up was interesting, haha. A little mixing and matching to get it the right length is necessary. I havent tried putting my abs sensor in yet, but i do know the newer ones are different, they also function as a speed sensor. I broke the one on the 8.8 so i don't know if it would work, but it does plug right in to the 94 harness. Everything else was direct bolt-in and went very smooth. hope this helps.
