I picked up a '98 Explorer OHC to install in my Ranger since I don't have any map lights in my factory dome light.

I need some help with the wiring. I can't find anything on the wiring for an OHC '04+ Ranger. I know the wiring changed from the '97-'03 wiring.

Anyone got any ideas or links?

I did this in my '01 so my wirinf is different. But the only wire you really need to know is the VSS wire on the GEM. All the other wires are acc power (which can be found with a multi meter) ground, or the ambient air temp sensor. I do know the VSS wire is the blk/gry on all the previous years. Only difference being the number of plugs on the gem's. The '98+ VSS wire is on the front plug. Hope this helped some.

Just did a little reaserch and apparently the VSS wire is also blk/gry for the '04+ Rangers.

I have done a couple of these installs on '03 and older Rangers, but never on a '04+ with the newer wiring. Supposedly, the '05-'06 wiring is a tad bit different than the '04 as well.

Its just that VSS wire you really need to have though. It is blk/gry still, all the way to 2010 Rangers from what I was told.

It is Black/Gray, I just need to know its location.

I may have it from Bob.

Now I just need to know what to do with the dimmer wire from the console. The map light wire goes into a wire on the dimmer module, so does the dimmer wire go to the same spot?

There should be only one blk/gry wire on the GEM plug closest to you. I used the dimmer wire that goes into the radio.
