My ABS light recently started coming on (04 Ranger 4x4 xtracab, 4.0, 5spd manual, 92,000 miles). Sometimes the ABS pulsates at low speeds, usually once the light comes on it stops pulsating (I think the ABS is disabled once the light is on). I replaced the right side wheel bearing assy (with the ABS sensor in it) about 7 months ago. I replaced the left side wheel bearing assy (with the ABS sensor in it) about 2 months ago. Because of this i doubt its the front wheel speed sensors.

If the rear sensor is bad, does it kill the speedometer? (My speedometer still works fine). Beyond wheel speed sensors, I dont know what else it could be. Rear wheel bearings?? Suspension components worn?

Any ideas are appreciated

Thanks in advance

Get it scanned, that will point you in the right direction before you just go throwing money at it.

i agree, i put wheel bearings in and six months later i had my abs kicking in at slow stops.i had a friend test it and his scanner showed that at slow speeds the right front sensor was reading out off range.must of just been a bad sensor, had a year warranty on it so i just replaced it.good luck
