Hi! I have an 03 Ranger Edge that's been parked for several months while I've been working on some repairs to pass inspection. Started it up last night and noticed the speedometer doesn't work. None of the repairs I've made involved electrical work up to this point. I did replace the battery and my terminal connectors though.

Tried some solutions I read in the forums; checking fuses, etc. Wipers and dome light work, no blown fuses, short of taking the dash apart I don't know what is causing the failure. The RPM gauge and odometer appear to be working fine. Any suggestions? I really need to get this truck back on the road.

Thanks.

In 2001 Ford moved the electronic speed sensor back to the trans/transfercase(it was on the rear axle since 1995), signal runs from there to the PCM(computer) .
PCM corrects for axle ratio and tire size(programmable parameters) and signal is then sent to dash board for Odo and Speedo.

The PCM uses the speed signal for shifting in an automatic so if you are having no issue with that then my guess would be speedo is bad.
Not sure if odo/speedo are separate units, I know Ford or other shops can set new odo to old odo mileage when exchanged.
